Obituary of Ruth Doloris Weatherbe
Ruth Doloris Weatherbe 88, the youngest of 5 was born to the late Hattie Jane
Chamberlain and William Edward Chamberlain from Eastern Shore, Maryland on
March 21, 1932 in Baltimore Maryland. She received her beautiful wings to fly home
and be with the Lord on May 27, 2020 after a lengthy illness.
Ruth received her early education in the Baltimore City Public School System, being
the dedicated person she proudly went back and finished to get her high school
diploma on April 30, 1982.
On September 23, 1953 she was married to the late William Weatherbe Sr. until
his untimely death in 1962. With the help of her beloved mother-in-law the late
Henrietta Weatherbee, she lovingly dedicated her life and raised her 2 sons William
Weatherbe Jr. and Thomas Weatherbe who both preceded her in death.
Ruth worked at a variety of jobs including Johns Hopkins Hospital. She successfully
completed her Geriatric Nursing Certification from Catonsville Community College
in January 1988 while working in her highest professional accomplishment as a
dedicated and outstanding Labor and Delivery Nursing Assistant and Geriatric
Nursing Assistant at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she tenderly cared
for newborns and the elderly for over 27 years, receiving the award of Excellence on
September 24, 1994 in recognition of her retirement.
Ruth accepted Christ in her life at an early age and in her heart wanted to serve the
Lord more. She became a member of the St. Paul Community Baptist church and
was baptized on April 23, 1972 under the Leadership of the Rev. E.M. Revels and
became a devoted choir member. Later she took the right hand of fellowship and
joined the Ezra Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. H. Marie Robinson
where she served on the Deaconess board and Nurses Unit. Serving was her calling
and she loved singing as a member of the George A. Crawley Lenten Choir under
the Leadership of the Rev. Dr. H. Walden Wilson and volunteered at the Harford
Senior Center, caring for the needy.
Being a grandmother to her 4 grandchildren was Ruth's pride and joy. She loved
talking to them, visiting with them and writing to them, sharing memories of
holidays and birthdays and proud to hear about their accomplishments. She always
prayed for them and that they would do their best and be the best in life. Although
they grew up and had families of their own, whether near or far they would always
share a love and like grandmothers do she always smiled at the memories of them as
little children.
