Obituary of Harold Nance Blanton

Harold N. Blanton passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at the age of 88. He was born on January 15, 1932 to parents Roy and Carrie Bell Blanton in Shelby, North Carolina and was one of nine children. He and his family later moved to Maryland where Hal graduated from Kenwood High School in 1951. Hal joined the United States Air National Guard through ROTC and graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in June 1955. Hal's military service took him to Germany and other training locations within the United States. Hal was honorably discharged as a Captain in the United States Air Force on November 8, 1967. On January 2, 1960, Hal married Mary Frances Boone in Ellicott City, Maryland and moved to Baltimore County in 1966. Hal had worked for Montgomery Ward as a Retail Associate. Hal was a devout Catholic, dedicating his life to helping others from volunteering at the soup kitchen to fostering 6 children with his wife. He was also very proud to be an Usher for Holy Family Church. Hal is survived by his wife Mary, 2 children, Stephanie Blanton and Mary Roosa, 5 grandchildren, Matthew Blanton, Cody Blanton, Chelsea Blanton, Dylan Greenblatt, Zach Greenblatt, and 1 great-grandchild, Elizabeth Rose Blanton. Funeral services will be at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 10:00am. Those wishing to honor his life can make donations in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
