OBITUARY Harold Anthony Kane, 83, of Baltimore, Maryland, born on April 28, 1937, the son of the late James Irving Kane and Mazie Dutton Kane, was called home by God on May 19, 2020. Harold grew up in Baltimore City, one of ten siblings. He was educated in the Baltimore public school system and later joined the Air Force, where he served from 1955 to 1961. He went on to become a correctional officer. He met his wife, nurse Barbara, at University of Maryland Hospital while guarding an inmate patient. They instantly knew they were meant to be and would be married for 53 years. Harold received a BS degree from University of Baltimore. He worked his way up the career ladder within the penal system of Maryland, then retired in 1987 as the Assistant Warden at Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup, Maryland. Retired life soon became too sedentary for him and he returned to work as a housing inspector with the City of Baltimore until 2000. Church served as a grounding for Harold, he was a faithful member of St. Francis of Xavier Catholic Church. Harold was loved by all. He had the unique ability to make everyone he came in contact with feel his warmth and kindness. His funny little sayings, tell-it-like-it-is attitude, full smile, hearty laugh and wise advice drew people to him. He loved being outdoors especially working in the yard. He had a knack for numbers, was a very organized person, a stylish dresser and also loved a good home cooked meal. He called Asheville, N.C. his second home and enjoyed its easy and peaceful pace. Harold is survived by his wife Barbara (Simmons) Kane, daughters Regina Kane and Patrice Henderson, two brothers – Robert and Patrick, grandchildren Justin Henderson and Jessica Henderson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Mazie Kane; four sisters – Dorothy Bennett, Mary Parker, Catherine Faulkner, Marion Kane; three brothers – Alan Kane, Thomas Kane and Irving 'Bootsy' Kane. We will miss you Harold, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague and friend. We love you dearly.
