Obituary of Maniza A. Lindsey

Maniza Ann Lindsey was born on April 4, 1931. She was the fifteenth child of sixteen born to Charlie Lanier and Maniza Crandell Lanier in Greenville, NC. Maniza had a son, Robert and moved to New York City. After her son Mark was born, she moved to Baltimore where she met and married her husband Lindsey who preceded her in death. Maniza was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at North West Hospital Nursing home for 13 years before she started doing private duty nursing for the State of Maryland until her retirement in her early eighties. She was a member of The Redeemed Church of Christ Apostolic under the leadership of Apostle Clarence Weston, and First Lady Mother Weston. She will be missed by her church family and friends. She was a member of her church from 1971 until death. Maniza was a lot of things to a lot of people: mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, Godmother, community mother to a lot of people. She was well loved. She would help family or anybody any way that she could. Shew as the matriarch of our Baltimore family. She leaves to mourn her two sons, Mark Cannon (wife, Sharon) and Jimmy Smith (wife, Tressa); one son, Robert Williams preceded her in death (Donnell, Robecca) was his first and second wives respectfully; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one brother, Bishop Northern Lanier, Pamele, NC; one sister, Miss Beatrice Fountaine of Salisbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, friends and one special friend, Viola Wise.
