Obituary of Ella Victoria Ellis
Ella V. Ellis, born the eighth child of the late Lloyd and Ella Hawks, was born October 11, 1933 in Windsor, Virginia. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Union Memorial Hospital with her Daughters by her side.
Ella was raised in a loving Christian family with many brothers and sisters, which at a young age allowed her to find Christ. She received her education in the Isle of Wight County Public Schools and graduated from IWT High School in 1951 she then continued her studies in nursing at Norfolk State University.
On December 17, 1951, Ella married her high school sweetheart Ervin Ellis and they lived a military life that finally settled them in Baltimore, Maryland. From this union they had two daughters Pam and Wendy.
She was always a loving, caring devoted person with such compassion, which is why going to work for Good Samaritan Hospital in 1968 was the perfect fit for her until she retired in 2014.
As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Ella spent most of her life devoted to her family, enjoying good food, laughs, dancing and lets not forget playing the lottery.
She left us very quickly to finally be with her husband and at peace...we believe her departing words to be:
Weep not for me though I have gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my souls sweet flight
I am at peace, my souls at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years
There is no pain, I suffer not
The fear is now all gone
Put now these things out of your thoughts
In your memory I live on
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
Celebrate my life my children
For I have gone to rest!
To cherish her memory, Ella leaves, her daughters Pamela Jones and Wendy Ellis; three granddaughters CaTina Leach, Angela Leach, Kelly Overstreet and husband Reginald; three grandsons, Demetrice, Demonya and DeAndre Wright; three great grandchildren, Chaylia Moore, Rexx Wright, Reginald Overstreet Jr; one sister, Vernell Fulgham; one sister-in-law, Sarah Ellis: and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and children in the name of love.
