Obituary of Michael Maurice Nesbit
O when I come to the end of my journey weary of life and the battle won;
carrying the staff and the cross of redemptions, He'll understand and say, "Well
done."
Michael Maurice Nesbit was born on September 22, 1950 in Baltimore,
Maryland to Diana Nesbit Green and the late William "Bill" Nesbit. After a
lengthy illness, he departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
At a young age Michael accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized
at Memorial Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in
Baltimore City Public Schools.
Michael was employed at the Playboy Club as a cook and later became
employed at Bethlehem Steel where he worked for sixteen years until he
became disabled.
In 1964 at the age of fourteen, he met Doreather Stokes, after she asked him to
retrieve her ball from a storm drain. On June 9, 1973 they entered the bond of
Holy Matrimony. They were blessed with two children.
A devoted family man, Michael affectionately known as "Pop-Pop", was very
involved in the rearing of his children and grandchildren. An avid sports fan,
he especially enjoyed watching football, baseball and college basketball. During
the summer, you could find Michael on the grill cooking for his family. He
ofte·n, referred to himself as the "Grill Master." He also enjoyed listening to
music, drinking a Sunkist orange soda and challenging his son to a good sports
video game.
Although Michael suffered from a lengthy illness and faced many challenges he
never complained.
Michael leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of forty six years
Doreather Nesbit, daughter LaShore Drafts, son Derrick Nesbit (Rashida),
