I worked with Rusty in PDS for 25 years and he was always willing to stop what he was doing and explain a concept, look into a problem, and do whatever he could to help. Since my background was in Lab and not computers, he was a huge and patient help for me with anything from testing, to patient care issues and lab computer problems. In fact, he was a huge and patient help with everyone. He was so cheerful and helpful in fact, that many people called our PDS Help Desk and just asked for him. :-) I loved his laugh and his gentle ways, and we shared a love for Virginia peanuts, and chocolate-covered taffy from Wildwood, NJ. I'll miss sitting in his office shooting the breeze with him, talking about cars, and general life stuff. I send prayers for comfort and much grace to Felicia, Jason, Kayla and others in his family; I'm sure he leaves a huge hole in many hearts. Beth Hornsby

My deepest condolences to Rusty's wife Felecia and to his children. I first remember Rusty as a child when my sister and I would travel from NYC to Owings Mills in the summers of the1950s and 1960s to visit our grandmother and cousins living with her. Rusty and some of his siblings would frequently walk over from their home to visit when we were there. As adults, we rarely saw each other except at family funerals and a few other family gatherings. I last saw him in August and am now saddened to find out about the illness which led to his passing.
May he rest in peace.

I didn't work directly with Mr. Rusty, but every time we greeted each other he had this big and wonderful smile. He was a very kind and genuine man, one of the nicest guys in our department. We will miss him at work dearly. Thoughts and prayers to Mr. Rusty's family and relatives.

Rusty was one of the first people I met when I started at JHH. He always had a smile and was always encouraging and willing to help. I could never walk through the halls of the hospital with Rusty without having at least four or five people stop to talk. Everyone knew and loved him. Whenever I see the Redskins I will always be reminded of him. Every Christmas I will think of him because during our Holiday party, we would always be blessed with at least one song from him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Rusty greeted me when I started at Hopkins, and so many times after that in the halls or computer offices. Our biggest project together was editing Lab Notes Handbook, he was the computer expert and I knew chemistry tests. Was missing his smile awhile now, since we worked in different buildings since 2012. It's heartbreaking he passed two days before I retired.

I worked with Rusty in PDS at Hopkins for 30 years and during that entire time, he was the best work buddy anyone could have asked for! He was always kindhearted, willing to lend a helping hand and always full of life. I will surely miss his big laugh but at the same time, I know that Heaven has gained a wonderful singer in its choir! Felicia and family, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Robin Lucas

This is still so very unbelievable. I use to joke with Rusty when we worked together in PDS that he needed to get the justification of his work hours to me so I can add them with the rest of the staff. Almost I would say at least a decade later whenever I would see Rusty he would always reassure me I could expect that report at anytime. We would just laugh at even after 10 or more years I still don't have that report. We all are missing you Rusty, your laughter how it brought so much joy into our lives. If you were having that bad day and by chance just happen to run into Rusty let's say on your way home on the Metro Subway you could expect a ride up filled with laughter. He knew how to bring the joy to all of us. To his family Felicia, his daughter, his sons and grandchildren - our prayers and thoughts are with you always. Thank you for sharing Rusty with us for just a little while. He is now our angel in heaven smiling down and still making us laugh and feel joy.

Wow, how can I say goodbye to someone I love and look up to, someone who has always brought a smile to my face whenever we saw each other, who is going to sing Me and Mrs Jones to me now. This a hard one and not being able to say my last goodbye to him in person is not making it any better. So I will not say goodbye, I will say until we meet again. I LOVE YOU MY RUSTY GHEE.

Dawn and I loved Rusty. He was God's man in times such as these. We enjoyed his music ministry through piano and voice. Rusty sang on a few occasions at my church for men's brunch and other church events. I had the pleasure of accompanying him from the organ, and what an inspiration. We are very saddened by the news. May God comfort your family! -Roland
