Obituary of Jessie Mae Anderson

Jessie Mae Anderson was born on October 6, 1939, in Blackstock, South Carolina. She was the fourth child of eight children and born to the late Joseph Johnson and Jessie Johnson. On Monday, September 9, 2024, God called her home and gave her eternal rest. Jessie' s elementary school education began at Charles Carroll of Carrolton School #139 in Baltimore City. She received her education at Paul Laurence Dunbar Junior and Senior High School. She graduated February 5, 1958. Later in life, Jessie returned to school to receive her certificate in Computer training at Baltimore City Community College (BCCC). She was employed at Katzenberg Brothers as a clerk and United States Fidelity and Guaranty Companies with 20 years of service, as a Medical Records Technician. After retiring from USF&G, Jessie decided to work part-time as a Program Assistants at Golden Pond Adult Day Program. Jessie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries formerly known as "Mount Pleasant Baptist Church". Jessie was a member of the Pastor's Aide, until her illness. Jessie enjoyed the preaching and teaching of Bishop Johnson. Jessie M Johnson and Ollie L Anderson were joined in holy matrimony. From this union they became the proud parents of four children. Jessie was the "Queen" of hospitality. Jessie always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She would give you the shirt off her back, and her last dollar and say, "don't worry about it." She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Jessie was an excellent cook, and everyone loved her fried chicken, potato salad, collard greens and fish dinners on Fridays. Jessie loved taking care of her nieces and nephews, teaching them how to read the Sun Newspaper and taking them on surprise shopping trips. Jessie's hobbies included reading, playing checkers, word puzzles, attending Sight and Sound plays in Lancaster, PA and cruising with her family. Our beloved Jessie health started to decline. She fought a good fight, and it was time for God to take her home. She will be missed by all who adored and admired her. Preceded her in death husband Ollie Anderson, brothers William and Joseph Johnson and sisters Laura Wells and Beatrice Cooper, grandson Thaddeus McCauley Jr. and daughter Jacqueline Davenport. Jessie leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted children Carolyn Nelson, Lisa Anderson, Darryl Anderson Sr. and one son-in law Sam D Nelson. Grandchildren: Dante, Greogry, Rhondasia, Darryl Jr. LaToya, Darrell, Tyler, Sajn, Dewon, Deasia, Daquan and one granddaughter in-law Alyssia. Great-grandchildren: Dante, Zion, Tayonna, Melaine, Maven, Mahara, Maleek, Danye, Zoie, Morghan and Christopher.
