Obituary of Shirley Joyce Nation
Shirley Joyce Nation, 85, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's and dementia.
Shirley was born on July 30, 1938, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Thomas & Caroline Johnson. Shirley was the youngest of seven and currently has one surviving sister, Gloria Johnson.
In 1950, Shirley met Levi Nation, and they instantly became inseparable. The two would wed in 1960. Their union produced ten children, six surviving.
Shirley immigrated to America with her children to join her husband Levi in 1971 to pursue a better life for her family. She worked at Church Home Hospital until her retirement and was dedicated to God, family, church, and work.
Shirley served God in many ways, including using her voice to praise him. She could be heard lifting people's spirits with a song, which was always accompanied by a smile.
Shirley is survived by children and in-laws Lloyd & Pamella Honeyghan, Norman & Virginia Nation, Naomi Watson, Theodore Nation, Howard & Donna Kapp, and John & Mary Ann Greenwall. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her biological and church families, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
