Obituary of Ruth Ann Holman
Ruth Ann Johnson Holman was born to the late Mary Frances Trotter Johnson and the late George Willis Johnson, Jr. on Thursday, August 30, 1945, in Roxboro, North Carolina. Ruth attended Person County Public Schools in Roxboro, North Carolina. At the age of 18, she left home and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, for better opportunities. She was a dedicated and proud employee of Sinai Hospital until she retired in June 2014. Ruth was also a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church, and loved her pastor and church family. She was generous and compassionate to all who met her and will be forever in our hearts and memories.
On October 1, 2022, God decided that He needed Ruth as one of the flowers in His heavenly garden and dispatched His angles to bring her home. She was a blessing to all who knew her and we are thankful to have had her in our lives.
Ruth was a woman of God. She was a loving mother, faithful sister, fun aunt, truthful friend, and diligent worker. She had an independent spirit and was a joy to be around. Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially her son, Gary, and grandson Johnathan. She was a shopaholic who enjoyed traveling with her friends Shirley and Phyllis. They were called the Golden Girls by Gary. Though Ruth never learned to drive, that never stopped her from going anywhere she needed or wanted to go! Ruth was gifted with a green thumb and loved plants and flowers. Ruth's favorite saying was "This, too, shall pass."
Waiting to greet Ruth in Heaven, along with her parents, were her brothers Jerry Johnson and Clarence "Bill" Johnson, her favorite Aunt, Bessie Jordan, cousin, Hallie Mae Evans, niece, Takiya M. Johnson and nephew, Flemmie DeCarlos Corbett. She is survived by her son, Gary Lynn Holman, grandson, Johnathan, sisters Beverly Cromartie (Jimmy) of Roxboro, N.C., Minister Shelby Corbett of Burlington, N.C., Esther Cooper (Alvin) of Durham, N.C. and brothers, George W. Johnson, III, and James "Connell" Johnson of Roxboro, N.C. and Richard Johnson (Lisa) of Queen Creek, Arizona, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
