Obituary of Jerome Henry Williams
God looked over his earthly paradise and chose an angel.
Jerome Henry Williams, son of the late Henry and Marie Williams was born September 19,1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. On July 11, 2022, God in his infinite wisdom gently closed his eyes and he entered into eternal life. In 1988, Jerome accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He placed membership at the University Parkway Church of Christ in Baltimore, Maryland and was an active member until his passing.
Jerome, who was known as Babe, Dad, Daddy-O, Pop-Pop, and Sharp Shorty. Romie was known for his debonair and conservative style of dress. He especially liked to kick around in his blue suede and alligator shoes. He was friendly, outgoing and treated everyone with the utmost respect. Romie's smile would bring joy to the faces of everyone in the room. He enjoyed listening to music, playing chess and the company of family and friends. Romie also really liked to watch the good old western movies and football. He was always rooting for the Ravens win or lose. Romie was such a great husband, father, grandfather, brother-in law, uncle and friend.
Romie received his education through the Baltimore City Public Schools. He earned his diploma from Dunbar High School. In his early years, he worked as a machinist, mortuary transporter and a housing inspector. Well, you can say he was a man of many occupations. Finally, he worked as a longshoreman for 27 years at the Port of Baltimore. In 1988, Romie met and fell in love with JoAnn "Abby" Ford. They met at bible study and had a four-year courtship. Romie and JoAnn married on August 3,1991 and shortly after they began to travel the world together. They had a very close relationship and remained happily married for 30 years, 11 months and 23 days (until his passing).
Jerome was preceded in death by his two brothers: Arnold Williams, Reginald Williams, two sisters: Alice "Jean '' Fitch, Sharon "Khiyetta'' Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 30 years, 11 months and 23 days JoAnn Ford-Williams, one son: Jerome Ware , two daughters: Burchette Williams, Latrice Hawkins, daughter-in law Barbara Ware, six granddaughters: Latoya, Latece, Stephanie, Brittany, Laila, Kayleigh, four grandsons: Rodney, Malachi, Micah, Mark, two great granddaughters: Yunik, Saniyah, one great- great granddaughter: Zoia, brother: Franklin Williams, two sisters Josephine Dennis, Patricia Richardson, five sisters-in-law Elaine Williams, Winifred Smith Sheila Ross, Nicole Irvin, Yvonne Ford, six brothers-in-law: Avon Ford, Andre Ford, William Irvin, Frederick Irvin, Anthony Ford, Joseph Richardson and host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
