Obituary of Arthur Barry Phillips

Arthur Barry Phillips was born at City Hospital on March 20, 1964, in Baltimore Maryland to the late Arthur Phillips and Ruby Land Simms. He departed this earthly life on December 28, 2021. Barry graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1982, then attended Coppin State College before beginning a career in law enforcement. Barry always dreamed of a career in law enforcement and got his early start in public safety by serving as a member of the Guardian Angels. After several early law enforcement roles, he joined the Baltimore City Sheriff Department in 1993, where he also served as a Certified Range Instructor and two terms as President of the FOP. Barry retired from the Baltimore City Sheriff Department in October 2021 after 28 years of service. Barry married Alicia Easley on June 21, 2002; she preceded him in death on November 27, 2018. This blessed union was also a blessing to 4 children who gained a wonderful new father. Barry accepted the Lord at an early age and attended Greater Gethsemane Baptist Church. He loved golfing, music, riding his motorcycle, getting together with friends to play card games, cooking, and fishing during family vacations to the Outer Banks. Barry truly valued time with family and friends. Barry leaves to celebrate his legacy and cherish his memories his mother-in-law Mrs. Alice Easley; 4 children, Troy, Wanell, Maria (Aaron), and Paul; 3 sisters-in-law, Valerie (James Sr), Shirley, and Alice; 2 brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Jr and Henry; 12 grandchildren, Zenobia, Shayla, Santana, Naya, Payden, Kai, Amaya, Ryan, Aaromiss, Aaron Jr, Eleazar, and Elaina; 2 great-grandchildren, a devoted friend Thomas "TJ" Johnson, and a host of cousins and friends. Although Barry was an only child, he considered his dear cousins Mason, Veronica, Yvette, and Quintin his siblings.
