Obituary of Carrie Lee McCoy
Carrie L. Wilson McCoy, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Carrie was the daughter of the late Ernest and Nonie Moore, was born on September 3, 1923 in Pitt County, North Carolina.
Carrie received early education from the Pitt County, North Carolina School System. Upon relocating to Baltimore Maryland, Carrie continued her studies, training with the Red Cross where she completed the "In Home Nursing Care Program". She used her skill to care for patients who were confined to their homes.
In 1942, Carrie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Moses Harry Wilson, Sr. From this union was born Moses H. Wilson, Jr. She was a devoted wife until Harry Sr's untimely death. Years later Carrie met John B. McCoy. They joined in marriage in 1957. Carrie and John enjoyed their life together until his passing in 1987.
Carrie was devoted to serving the Lord Jesus Christ ever since she accepted Jesus as her savior. Her Christian journey began at First Apostolic Faith Church under the Pastorship of Bishop Winfield A. Showell. She was baptized in Jesus name in 1952 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost soon after.
Carrie was enthusiastic about her Christian experience and would witness to her family about Jesus Christ. Her witness led to her mother and several of her siblings being baptized in the name of Jesus also.
As a faithful member of the First Apostolic Faith Church, Carrie served on the The Gospel Choir, The Senior Choir, the W.A. Showell Temple Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. She was also a member of The Flower Circle under the leadership of Betsy White, and the noonday prayer group under the leadership of Sis. Willie Smith who assigned Carrie to do in home care for Mother Ruth Turpin (wife of founder).
Carrie was inspired and seat out to visit nursing homes to spread the message of God's love and to pray with the people who were confined there. She also took care of her ailing mother until she was no longer able to do so. Carrie possessed a gentle and comforting spirit that would cause you to feel better when she was in your presence.
Although Carrie was not clergy, her life and deeds demonstrated love and strength that comes from the Lord Jesus Christ. She could be relied on to pray for anyone concerning any situation. She would encourage you by saying 'don't worry about anything and pray about everything". One of her favorite scriptures was Psalms 121:2, "I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord". Her favorite song was, "When I see Jesus Amen"! AMEN!!
