Obituary of Jack Isaac Chinn, Sr.

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JACK ISAAC CHINN, SR., son of the late Bernice Frances and Llewellyn Chinn, was born on November 12, 1944, at D.C. General Hospital (Washington, D.C.). On the evening of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by the presence and love of his family, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life. Jack's life was shaped by love, family, and meaningful relationships. Beyond that, he owned whatever space he occupied. He did whatever he wanted, and he lived his life without apology. He was not a man who waited for permission or followed a path simply because others expected him to. Jack moved through this world with the rhythm of his own heart, making his own rules as he lived, choosing his own way, and standing firmly in the fullness of who he was. He never met a stranger, and with his charm and magnetic energy, he mastered a "one of a kind" presence that people noticed. His personality made him unforgettable. He lived in his own way, he loved in his own way, and he left behind memories of a man who was free in spirit, strong in character, and deeply true to himself. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Frances and Llewellyn Chinn. He leaves to cherish his memory: Jack Jr. (Keisha), Shawn (Dene'), Antonnette and John (his children); Betty, Donald Sr., and Peggy (his siblings); Brianna, Jaxson, Jordan, Moriah, Elijah and Laila (his grandchildren); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, "in-law" family, caregivers, and lifelong friends. Though Jack Sr. has departed this life, the things that made him who he was will remain. His legacy will continue in his children and grandchildren, as well as in all those who knew him, loved him and were fortunate to be touched with the indelible mark he left on all who experienced him. The family will have a private Memorial Service at St. John Baptist Church, in Columbia, MD. Floral arrangements, and other expressions of sympathy, can be sent on Friday, August 21, 2026, to the following: St. John Baptist Church c/o Reverend John West & The Chinn Family 9055 Tamar Drive Columbia, MD 21045
