Obituary of Katherine Williamson Wyatt

Katherine Williamson Wyatt was born July 28, 1929, to Luemealure Benjam Williamson and Walla Williamson. One of ten children, her birth at Johns Hopkins Hospital, began a blessed life. Raised in Turner's Station, Maryland, Katherine, and her family enjoyed fellowship and celebrations with each other, their church family and community members. Katherine was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Turner Station. She graduated from Bragg High School in 1947 and completed two years at Morgan State University. She married Littleton Boyer Wyatt on April 1, 1950. They shared life and love until his passing on January 4, 2002. Five children were born to their union: Karl, Littleton, Jr., Kenneth, Kassandra, and Katrina. Her loving care and kindness for her children was endless. She exposed them to educational, fun, cultural, and service activities. Katherine served as a Den Mother with the Boy Scouts and as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. An active resident of the 4700 block of Wrenwood Avenue, where she lived for over 50 years, Katherine and the mothers of the block had a women's social club and often participated in activities with their children. The neighborhood children are extended family members who she welcomed in her home when they became adults. Worship of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was important to Katherine as shown through her membership and service at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Northwood Appold United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, and Trinity Baptist Community Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois. After returning from Illinois, Katherine worshipped at Huber Memorial Church. Katherine worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and later became a Registered Nurse, certified in Psychiatry. She enjoyed her career and often assisted family, friends and neighbors who needed care. Katherine worked part-time at the now named Autumn Lake Healthcare at Homewood. After over thirty years of service, she retired from the University of Maryland Hospital. Katherine continued living a full life, despite having dementia, at the Morningside House of Satyr Hill and most recently at The Maples of Stoneleigh. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren family members and friends cherish her memory and are grateful for the times they shared. Her dear friend Josephine Alston met Katherine in 1954 and remained in touch.
