My Dearest Cousin Paula,
I will forever miss you. You became one of the many reasons I'm glad I moved back to Maryland. You were always welcoming. I enjoyed our breakfast outings where we discussed & "solved" the world's problems as we sipped coffee & exchanged updates & most of all, laughed. You were a super connector. You made sure we got our Mothers together which all of us enjoyed. I loved exchanging humorous texts & appreciated how you always made sure I set the clocks back or forward whenever the time changed. I'm so glad we became closer over the pass 6 years. Thank you for always checking in on Mom & me. For a long time, I had heard stories of people making huge profits from cryptocurrency investments, but I didn’t really understand how it all worked. The promise of financial gain caught my attention, and I decided to give it a try. To guide me, I joined an online group of traders who claimed they would help me navigate the process. Their confidence and apparent expertise made me feel secure in my decision.
After spending some time learning from them and observing their strategies, I felt encouraged to invest a significant amount of money. I trusted them so much that I even subscribed to their premium membership, believing it would increase my chances of earning higher returns. Unfortunately, I had no idea I was walking into a trap. Driven by hopes of financial stability, I invested a total of $59,000.
As time passed, I waited eagerly for returns, but none came. When I tried to withdraw some money to cover my mortgage, I faced delays and resistance. Soon after, the traders I trusted stopped responding entirely and cut off all communication. It became painfully clear that I had been scammed. I was overwhelmed with anger, betrayal, and despair as I realized the extent of my loss.
I reported the incident to the police, but they explained that tracking down the scammers would be extremely difficult, especially since they had blocked me on all platforms. Feeling hopeless, I shared my experience with a colleague, who introduced me to a recovery service that specializes in helping victims of scams retrieve lost funds.
Although the recovery process was long and challenging, it gave me a sense of renewed hope. With their support, I was eventually able to recover part of my lost investment, which provided some financial relief and helped me begin to move forward.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Brooks at Chanel’s most recent baby shower for Caia. Arriving “fashionably” late, there were not many seats left. I made my way to an empty seat at Mrs. Brooks’ table.
She was kind, genuine, and such a pleasure to talk to. She spoke about her husband and her spending the day with their grandchildren at the fair, and looking forward to traveling with her grandchildren some more. Just a really beautiful spirit. So glad I had the opportunity to meet her.

Q: What will you miss most about Paula?
A: Paula and I worked together at Good Samaritan Hospital and it was a pleasure to be in her company. She was always so put together in dress and preparation for the day. Her energy came from her love of family, pets, and her husband, Ernest. She had a genuineness and authenticity that made me always feel heard and appreciated. After retirement, we continued to meet for for lunch, even through her treatment. Paula was a fine Christian woman and I will keep her in my heart always and be happy our lives crossed.
