Obituary of Eugene Warren Scott, Sr.

Eugene "Deet" W. Scott Sr., son of the late Margaret and David Scott was born on November 5, 1942 in Dundalk, Maryland. He transitioned to his heavenly home on May 4, 2026. Eugene received his education within Baltimore County Schools and later attended Dundalk High School, where he became known as a talented track star. A few years after graduating high school, Eugene met the love of his life, Geraldine, at Reed's Coffee Shop, where he would go daily to enjoy his favorite Coca-Cola float. Their love blossomed into a beautiful marriage in 1962, and together they built a loving family, raising four children: Veronica, Yvette, Eugenia, and Eugene Jr. He later enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served as a supply clerk and wrestler. After receiving an honorable discharge, he received his apprentice license in HVACR, further reflecting his dedication to hard work and learning new skills. He dedicated himself to a strong work ethic throughout his life, holding positions as a cab driver, an employee at Solo Cup Company, and later as a supervisor at Towson University. Once retiring, Eugene remained active and enjoyed staying busy, eventually working part-time at Sudsville Laundromat, where he continued to connect with and serve his community. Eugene will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, he will continue to live on in our hearts. He leaves to cherish his memories his children; Yvette, Eugenia, and Eugene Jr. (Penny); his sister, Henrietta (Eddie); and his brothers, Walter (Jackie) and Sylvester (Linda). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-granddaughters, along with a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and David Scott; his beloved wife, Geraldine Scott; their daughter, Veronica; and his siblings, Lillie, Elsie, and David Jr. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Services - East, 4905 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, a service for Mr. Scott, Sr. will take place at Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries, 6000 Radecke Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206, where the family will receive frineds from 11:30 AM -12:00 PM with service to follow. Interment and military honors will be held at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117, immediately following the service.
