Mr. James Owens Pope Sr., age 82, transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, April 17, 2026. James was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Ina Banks-Pope, and children . A homegoing celebration for Mr. Pope will be held on Monday, May 4, 2022 at the Epworth United Methodist Chapel 3317 St Lukes Ln, Baltimore, MD 21207 where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with services to follow.
He leaves behind to cherish his wife of 47 years, Ina N.A. Banks-Pope; his brother, Curtis Pope (Claudette); and his sister, Betsie Pope.
He was a loving father to nine children: James Anthony Vaughn, James Eric King (Penny), Valencia A. Pope, James O. Pope, Jr.; Ysaha A. (David Smith); Micah James (Pope) Ramseur; Jamie E. Pope; and twins, Geneva N. (Ivan Wilson) and Gina N. Pope (Jerrick Jeffreys).Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren: Jeremy, Charmaine, Asha, Deetryce, Loveta, Julia, James, Joshua, Adrianna, Shaquisha, Towanda, Richard, Montrell, Acaja, Dallas, Michayla, Jackson, Peyton, Jordan, Zurie, and Sydney.
