Obituary of Mark Anthony Lyles

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MARK ANTHONY LYLES, son of the late Leola Wright Lyles and Elie Lyles, Jr., was born on June 18, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland. Mark is survived by his wife Jean Lyles and daughters Candace Moore and Amber Lyles. Mark and Jean first met as preteens 51 years ago. God brought them back together in 1995 and they were united in marriage in 2000. Mark received an education in the Baltimore City public school system and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1980. He played basketball for the Dunbar Poets and earned a scholarship to attend North Carolina Central University. Though Mark did not complete his college education, he returned home and started working for the Steamship Trade Association of Baltimore in 1981. Mark worked there until a devastating on the job injury forced him to retire on January 1, 2012. Mark gave his life to God at an early age at New Pilgrim Baptist Church. As an adult, he joined Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries and remained a member until his death. Mark lived a full life and his faith in God never wavered. He shared his Christian faith and could speak to you about the bible for hours. He loved his family through laughter, tears, good times, and hard times and gave generously when he could. He loved his pets and took care of other family members' pets as well. Mark shared his home with family whenever needed. He took care of his younger brother Darrin (deceased) for years and now they are together once again. Our hearts are broken by Mark's unexpected departure. Mark is finally at rest with his parents, his sister Anna Mae, his nephew Christopher, his brother Darrin and many other family members and friends. God has granted him the heavenly peace he needs. Mark is survived by his wife Jean Lyles, daughters Candace Moore and Amber Lyles, brothers Eli P. Lyles (Donna), Dennis M. Lyles, Johnny A. Lyles (Denise), sisters Norma G. Free, Donna Denise Bowe (Joseph), mother-in-law Estelle Robertson, sister-in laws Patricia and Brenda Robertson, brother-in-law Wallace Robertson (Patricia) aunt Marie Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
