Obituary
Obituary of Dianah Louise Dorsey
Please share a memory of Dianah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dianah Louise Dorsey was welcomed into this world on December 16, 1948, in Gambrills,
Maryland, to the late Raymond Hamilton and Frances Moulden Hamilton. She was the third of
eight children.
Dianah loved music—especially spiritual music. At an early age, she found joy in practicing her
piano lessons and exercising her gifted voice. In her earlier years, she was a member of Wilson
Memorial Church in Gambrills, Maryland, where she worshiped alongside her family. Dianah
also played the piano or organ at community churches when the "Hamilton Sisters" were invited
to sing. Her family cherished her piano and organ playing during their fun-filled at-home "family
church skits."
From 1985 until the Lord called her home, Dianah was a devoted member of New Shiloh Baptist
Church. During that time, she also briefly attended Greater Faith Community Baptist Church in
Severn, Maryland, where she faithfully served as Minister of Music. She later returned to New
Shiloh Baptist Church, where she worshiped alongside her parents, who were Deacons. There,
she served as Vice President of the Great Choir and was a dedicated member of the Comfort
Choir for many years.
Dianah had a deep and abiding love for God. She walked and talked with Him every day, and
her life was a true reflection of what it means to faithfully serve the Lord. Through her
caregiving, she touched the lives of all she came across. She always saw the good in others
and made it a point to help others find the good in themselves. You could never leave her home
or her presence without feeling her impact. Whether it was a health pamphlet, food for the week,
or money, she served humbly and selflessly.
Dianah was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. She attended George
Washington Carver Elementary School, Arundel Junior High School, and Arundel Senior High
School, graduating in 1966.
Dianah began her professional career at the Prince George's County Hospital School of
Nursing, where she graduated with honors as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Following
graduation, she was employed at Prince George's County Hospital as a Medical/Surgical Nurse
for many years. She later entered private duty nursing, faithfully serving her clients and her
family for over thirty years. Her family and close friends deeply appreciated her extensive
medical knowledge, which she was always willing to share.
In 1970, Dianah married her life partner and forever plus one, Carroll Thomas Dorsey. Together,
they became the proud parents of two daughters, Michelle Nicole Dorsey and Carolyn Teresa
Dorsey. In 1995 and 2003, they were blessed to become grandparents to two granddaughters,
Francesca Elender Louise Dorsey and Taylor Olivia Chunn.
Dianah was a meticulous homemaker and a loving, attentive wife, mother, and grandmother.
She possessed a special talent for growing beautiful household plants and vibrant garden
flowers that surrounded her home year-round. She loved nature and would often be heard
praising the Lord through song while gardening. She made sure that her home served the Lord
always.
In the early hours of Sunday, February 22, 2026, Dianah was ushered into the loving arms of the
Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Hamilton and Frances Fannie
Moulden Hamilton; her daughter, Michelle Nicole Dorsey; and her siblings, Donald Hamilton and
Paulette Hamilton.
Dianah leaves to cherish her memory: Husband – Carroll T. Dorsey; Daughter – Carolyn T.
