Obituary of Joseph Blackston Sr.

Joseph Blackston, Sr., age 77, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 20, 2026, after a life well lived. Mr. Blackston was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 24, 1948. He had been employed as a bus driver for the Maryland Mass Transit Administration (MTA) for over 30 yrs prior to retirement. He will be missed by his loving family and friends. Blackston, Sr. and wife Myeisha, Patricia A. Thomas and husband Darius, Sr., The late Daniel Blackston, Sr. (2015), Marcus Blackston and wife Shawana, and Dorothy A. Jordan and her husband Keon; Grandchildren: Joseph (Tinika), Gary, Leah, Jeffrey, Tracie, Shane, Chance, Garrett, Trey' Shell, the late Chase, the late Treasure, India (Eric), Angel (Shawn), Ashna, Reality, Charity, The late James, Jr.(2013), Joshua, Semaj, Jamison, Darius, Jr. Daniel, Jr., Makhia, Nasir, Brooklyn, Londyn, Kmayah, Kaytlin, Ajah and Ayla; Great grandchildren: Zion, Neriah, Autumn, Ava, Eric, Jr., Kamryn, Alivia, Nylah, Zorie, Isaiah, Skylah, Ariah, Alyjah, Ahlanii, Tourie, Zayden ,Zuri, Karter and one on the way; dear brother of Linwood Blackston, Sr. and wife Barbara, and the late Harry (Mary), Norman and Milton Blackston, and the late Audrey Hamlin (Clarence) and the late Barbara Jones(Paul) ; dear nephew of Gwendolyn Bruce, caring brother-in-law of Elizabeth Presco and Barbara Blackston. Joe is also, survived by lots of loving special nieces, nephews, cousins (Very Special Cousin Wayne Jackson), his children in Christ and his church family. A viewing will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at Central Church of Christ, 4301 Woodridge Road, Baltimore, MD 21229, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2026, in the sanctuary of the Central Church of Christ, 4301 Woodridge Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21229. The wake will begin at 10:00 am. and the homegoing celebration service beginning at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in the Parkwood Cemetery, Parkville, MD
