Please share a memory of Harry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harry Lee Handy Jr. was born on September 16, 1957, to Mr. And Mrs. Harry Handy Sr. and Shirley Handy in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born at City Hospital, now known as Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Harry received his education in Baltimore city Public Schools. As a young man, he entered the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper for six years. After leaving the military, he held several jobs including a position at the Sweetheart Cup Company. At the time of his death, he was employed for several years at the Mid-Atlantic Bakery located in southeast Baltimore. Harry was known for his distinct sense of humor and his willingness to come to the defense of anyone he felt was being taken advantage of. He was extremely protective of his loved ones and would literally "fight a bear" to make sure they were safe. He loved dogs and owned several very large ones, namely Royal, Tiger and Legend, mixed breed Rottweilers German Shepards and one Cane Corso. Harry also loved to take care of his body. He spent hours lifting weights and developing his strength. Harry was one to let his opinion be known and expressed his thoughts on things without apology. He will be missed by those who loved him. He leaves to mourn three brothers, Michael, Steven and Ellery; one sister, Phyllis; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and family members as well as a lifetime partner and friend of 43 years, Ms. Pamela Alexander. "Sleep on Harry and take your rest. We loved you dearly, but God loved you best."
