Obituary of Rosemary Baze
Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 19, 2026, Rosemary Baze slipped quietly into God's loving arms after 54 years of mortal existence. She was born on October 9, 1971, and was gone too soon by those who knew and loved her.
Known to family and friends as "Rose," she was born and raised in Maryland. She was a graduate of Western High School, Class of 1989. She went on to attend Elon College in North Carolina. Throughout adult life, Rose held a series of administrative roles at local hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland, and GBMC. Rose was exacting in her work and dedicated to patient care.
Outside of work, Rose was an avid traveler. As soon as one trip ended, she was quick to put another on the books. In her 40s, she went on her first cruise and was immediately hooked. She loved the serenity of the open water and enjoyed discovering new places with her favorite travel companions, her daughters. Rose's love of exploration began at a young age. After attending Walt Disney World in Florida as an 8-year-old, Rosemary developed a loyal devotion to everything Disney. A devotion that she went on to share with her daughters. She returned to the parks annually as it was her true "happy place", a fact evident in her home, vehicle, and wardrobe.
Rose was charismatic, quick-witted, and unapologetically herself. She was generous and affectionate, always ready to help, and equally known for her sharp tongue and incredible sense of humor. Rose was fiercely devoted to her daughters, Sydnee and Morgan. As a single mother, she made countless sacrifices to ensure their well-being. The bond Rose shared with her girls was unbreakable and, as they entered adulthood, developed into a deep friendship that remains one of her greatest legacies.
Her absence at such an early age leaves her family to mourn for a loss we find so difficult to comprehend. However, we find comfort in the fact that Rose lived her life on her own terms. She was a resilient, courageous force to be reckoned with. Rose will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Rosemary is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Sydnee (Jeffrey) Furlong of Utah, and Ms. Morgan Stevenson of Maryland, her mother, Rosemary (Glenn) Gamble, her father, Leonard (Vanessa) Baze, three sisters, Nina Baze, Danielle Baze, Rebecca (Tyrone) Marson, two brothers, Chris Young and Glenn Gamble. There is a great host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and kinfolk, family friends, and close lifelong relationships.
In words she loved and lived by, borrowed from the Magic Kingdom exit she knew so well: We'll see ya real soon.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
