General Bouie, also known as Bodine and Toy, was my go-to handyman. Whenever I needed something fixed, I could rely on him to get the job done. His expertise spanned various areas, including plumbing, pipe repair, assembly, and electrical work. We would often visit Home Depot to get the necessary materials, and before leaving the store, I would ask him if we had everything we needed to complete the job. His response was always yes however, upon starting the work, he would come to me saying that he had forgotten to purchase a crucial item, and we would have to make another trip to Home Depot. On some occasion, we would make as many as four trips back and forth to Home Depot before the task could be completed. Beside the fact that we had to make multiple trips to the store, I could always depend on him to get the job done. He was persistent in completing the task. If he was unsure, he would study the job, ask questions, and ensure he felt comfortable before proceeding but he was always successful in completing the job. He enjoyed listening to music while working, and I recall that he would repeatedly play the song "Make me a believer" by Luther Vandross that was one of his favorite songs. Toy wasn't just my handyman he was my brother and my friend and he will be missed.
