Steven Cornell Wooden, Sr., age 64 went to be with the Lord on November 24th, 2025. Steve was born on September 23rd, 1961, in Washington D.C. Steve was one of twelve children. Steve attended Harmons Elementary school and MacArthur Middle School in Anne Arundel County, graduating from Meade High School. Steve was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He enlisted in the army at the age of 18 in Baltimore, MD. He was a Combat Telecommunications Center Operator. He spent time in Fort Stewart, GA. Steve lived in Baltimore City most of his life, moving back to D.C., as well as spending a few years in Harford County in Havre de Grace and Aberdeen. Steve enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. He worked for some years as a cook. Steve also had many skills as a handyman. He was licensed as a subcontractor where he registered his own business doing carpentry. Steve, a follower of Christ, was very involved in church throughout his years. He received his Deacon certificate in 2007. He attended Bible college at Greater Grace World Outreach. Steve was enrolled in classes from 2010-2015 at Maryland Bible College & Seminary in Baltimore. Steve was certified as a Pastor. He was involved in community outreach with church, supporting ministries like Grace Overcomers, volunteering at orioles' games and helping in his community. He participated in Homeless Resources days in Anne Arundel County. Steve had his barber license like his two sons. He spent time cutting hair at the VA medical center. Steven was a family man. He loved attending family gatherings and bringing everyone together. He was the guy always making every one laugh whether it was Muhammad Ali & Elvis impersonations or telling jokes. Steve was outgoing and loved people and could start a conversation with anyone and he knew just about everyone he ran into. Steve's sharp mind and love for a good debate were well-known among family and friends. Steve enjoyed football, a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. Steve loved boxing and wrestling. He enjoyed attending wrestling matches and watching old fights of some of his favorite boxers like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, and other boxing legends. He even attended Joe Frazier's funeral. He enjoyed watching documentaries and old tv shows like Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle. He loved to collect anything that was antique and play instruments including learning the bass guitar and keyboard. He loved all music, but most likely playing in his earphones was old school 60's, 70's & 80's. Predeceased by his son Matthew Gilman, his parents Bartow Ward Wooden, Jr. And Essie Mae Wooden, his brothers David Michael Wooden, Glenn Wooden, Daryl Wooden, and his nephews Darnell Harris and Antione Harris and Grandson Sebastian Wooden. He is survived by his son Steven Wooden Jr, his daughter Stephanie Wooden and grandchildren Amani Wooden and Kairo Wooden. His sisters Cheryl Wooden, Evelyn Wooden, Cecilia Harris-Lemon, Valeria Washington, Glenda Hamby and brothers Bartow Wooden III, Philip Wooden, and Louis Wooden; nieces and nephews Charisse Milburn, Tyesha Ward, Tivonne Harris, Katina Harris, Aaron Washington, Monica Wooden, Desmond Wooden, and Amanda Benton as well as a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Steve's kind, caring and funny nature will be missed by many. His passion for helping others touched many lives. He will forever be loved and live in our hearts forever.
