I ran a business next door to Ray’s in Catonsville for a number of years. We got to know each other well enough in that time for me to say that I was shocked and saddened to learn today of Ray’s passing. We talked often and I think he would agree that we thought and felt similarly on many topics - the important ones, anyway. I always appreciated his perspective, and what I knew of his life experience. I will miss him. My condolences to his family and friends, I’m sure there are many.

Q: What will you never forget about Dennis?
A: Ray was my Godfather. Throughout my life, he has been there when I needed him the most. He was always so thoughtful and kind. He really showed up when during my father's last days. My dad was one of his dearest friends. They shared so many stories of their friendship with me.
My Godfather was vibrant, handsome and kind. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was keenly aware of current events and social matters.
I love him and will miss having him in my life. He was never more than a phone call or text away and I'll miss having his ear for advice and his shoulder to lean on.

I'm sorry I never worked with Ray or met him, but growing up in Baltimore and now working at WBAL NewsRadio, I always admired his work. My condolences to his family and all who were richer because they knew him.

Ray was a storyteller, a gifted writer and a great collaborator.
Through his stories at WBAL-TV, he introduced us to people we might never have met but through whom we learned a little more about ourselves.
Our lunches over the years were bright spots of laughter and remembering.

Ray was a wonderful person and neighbor with a great sense of humor, a quick wit and great one liners. Everyone at Sutton Place in Bolton Hill enjoyed his company. I remember the great concerts several of us attended with Ray at The Lyric, The Mechanic, Ethel's Place, Painters Mill and other venues in Maryland and DC. He loved Jazz! He will be missed.
