Cynthia D. Jacobs was born on February 9, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Charles and Dorothy Jones. After living a fulfilling life for 75 years, Cynthia departed her life on June 8, 2025, peacefully due to a prolonged illness, in the comfort of her home.
In her earlier years, Cynthia graduated from Dunbar High School and received her high school diploma. She later pursued further studies and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration from Sojourner-Douglass College. Throughout her lifelong journey of learning, Cynthia has received numerous awards and certifications, including studies in childcare and stenography.
Cynthia met the love of her life, Will Jacobs Jr., in 1972, and they celebrated their union in holy matrimony on August 8, 1988. Throughout her life, Cynthia embodied the qualities of a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was deeply committed to her family, ensuring that their children not only had the best opportunities in life but also instilled in them a love for reading. She believed that books were gateways to success, and she encouraged her children to explore different worlds through literature, guiding them to become confident and accomplished adults. As a devoted homemaker, Cynthia took great pride in managing her household and creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. She was attentive to her husband, always striving to support and uplift him in every way possible. Her kindness didn't stop at her family; she was known in the community for her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it was providing a listening ear or offering practical assistance. Cynthia's generous spirit and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Later in her career, Cynthia joined the workforce at the esteemed Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she contributed to a vibrant academic and cultural environment. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she volunteered in Baltimore City schools, demonstrating a commitment to educational development and community engagement. Throughout her endeavors, Cynthia cultivated meaningful relationships with colleagues, students, and community members, enhancing both her professional and personal connections within the community.
Cynthia rededicated her life to Jesus and was baptized in 1990, marking the beginning of her faith journey through Bible study. She played an important role in assisting and coordinating Outreach Soul-Winning Crusades with Heart to Heart Ministries, Inc. Cynthia was an active member of Sacred Hearts, which later became Spirit of Faith Deliverance Church, Inc. In 2004, she was consecrated as Missionary Cynthia D. Jacobs, and in 2005, she was elevated to Deacon Cynthia D. Jacobs. Over the course of 30-plus years, she dedicated her time to the church. Cynthia participated in the Pastor's Aide Ministry, preached, served as a Deaconess, and occasionally sang with the choir. She frequently taught the word of God through preaching and other forms of instruction to equip the congregation for spiritual growth and service.
Elder Cynthia D. Jacobs was the godmother of the church, wholeheartedly embracing all the children as her own. The children adored her, and she reciprocated their affection with unwavering love. Respected and cherished in the community, she exuded a nurturing spirit, always driven by her commitment to serving the Lord.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. and Dorothy Jones, and her siblings: Charles Jones Jr., Patricia Harris (James Harris), Sylvia Crapper (Russell Crapper), Earl Jones (Teresa Jones), and Harvey Jones (Delores Jones).
Cynthia leaves to mourn her loving husband Will Jacobs Jr. marriage of 37 years; her children, Maurice W. Allen, Kenneth T. Jones, Michael A. Jones, and Cherelle D. Heath; two daughters-in-law, Katina Allen, and Bernadette Jones; one son-in-law Tyrone Heath; Her siblings, Curtis Jones Jr, James Jones, Donna Jones Joy, and Bishop Stephen Jones; two sisters-in-law Clara Mae Jacobs, Catherine Jones; one brother in-law Donnie Joy; 13 grandchidren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
