Obituary of Celonia Josephine Jones

Celonia Josephine Elliott Jones was born on February 20, 1934, in Mt. Jackson, Shenandoah, County, Virginia to the late Thomas Flood and Pauline Spinner. Though Celonia faced early life challenges, including a serious illness that interrupted her education and a diagnosis claiming she would never bear children, she remained rooted in faith and grace. Trusting in God's plan, she defied all odds. Through divine favor, she met and married Primus Jones Jr. and from this union were three beautiful children: Margaret, Lloyd, and Primus Jones Ill. Celonia believed deeply in the power of education. Refusing to let earlier setbacks define her, she returned to school as an adult and proudly graduated from Dunbar Evening School in 1968-a powerful testament to her determination and commitment to lifelong learning. She devoted over two decades of service to the University of Maryland Hospital, retiring in 1994 with grace and pride. A women of unwavering faith, Celonia was a devoted member of Huber Memorial Church. She served faithfully as Church Secretary. Her spiritual strength, warm spirit, and commitment to service made her a beloved presence within her church family. Celonia was known for her quiet strength,· radiant smile, and unshakable faith. She was the embodiment of resilience, love, and spiritual devotion-a true reflection of God's enduring light on earth. Celonia loved spending time with her family and her door was always open to family and friends. Her legacy lives on through her loving children; Margaret (George), Lloyd, and Primus III; Her cherished grandchildren, Cherie, Primus (Tyrell), Lloyd (Douglas), Tina, Charon, Lloyd, Lloren, Jared, and Primus (Weedie); and a host of loving great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She will be in the hearts and thoughts of her Huber Memorial Church Family, and a host of dear friends and community members who were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and grace.
