Obituary of Darryl Rose
Please share a memory of Darryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Darryl Wellington Rose, was born in New Rochelle, New York on January 14, 1959, to Eleanor and John Rose Sr. He was the youngest of seven children, Walford, Joan, Connie, Brenda, John Jr., and Leslyn. He attended Daniel Webster Elementary School, Albert Leonard Junior High School, and New Rochelle High School as a youth, where he ran track and was on a neighborhood bowling league. After high school graduation, he was accepted and attended Hofstra University, in Hempstead, New York, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication in 1981. During this time DJ Darryl was discovered, working events for friends and family to help with college expenses. His love for sharing music continued throughout his life. No matter where he was, he continued to play his old school mixes. Everyone knew that if Frankie Beverly's "Before I let you go" song was playing, you could find Mousie (a.k.a. Darryl) out on the dance floor.
Darryl became a father for the first time with the birth of his son Jarryd Williams in 1985. Darryl worked in several areas, before he landed a position in the graphic art department with IBM in White Plains, New York in 1987. While on vacation with his family, he spent most of the time initiating a close friendship with Carol Rose, a childhood acquaintance. That friendship turned into love, Darryl moved to Maryland, and they were married July 20, 1991. His second child, Jasmine Rose was born in 1994. Spending time with family and friends was his passion.
Darryl continued his career in graphic arts, working for a variety of companies including Balmar Printing & Graphics, and Ikon Business Document Services to name a couple. In 2018, he retired from his position where he worked as production manager for 15 years with BlueBoy Document Imaging. Both he and Carol loved to travel, and cruising was what they enjoyed most. That was how they planned to spend their retirement and moved to Florida in 2021 to start the adventure. While Darryl started to experience some health challenges, he never missed a trip with his family and with his friends affectionately known as "The Crew". He started driving Uber and enjoyed the host of activities in the Solivita community he lived in.
In 2025, Darryl's health issues started to get the best of him and on April 29, 2025, he passed on and went home to rest with our Lord and Savior. He is survived by his wife Carol Rose, son Jarryd Williams, daughter Jasmine Rose, brother John Rose Jr., sister Leslyn Rose-Franklin, brother-in-law Ronald Franklin Sr., nephew James Temple III, granddaughters Victoria and Isabella Williams and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
