Obituary of Mary Carter Cross

Mary Elaine Dorsey Carter Cross transitioned on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the age of 78 years of age.
Born on December 25, 1946 in New Windsor, MD. Mary was the daughter of the late Robert Dorsey and Bertie Dorsey Wilson.
Mary was a school teacher in the Baltimore City Public School system for 37 years. She was an ordained minister in the Baptist Conference since 1976 and a member of Seventh Day Adventist in Pikesville, MD.
Mary was predeceased by parents Robert Dorsey and Bertie Wilson and siblings Nelson, James, William, Richard, Francis, Gwendolyn, Lawrence, Naomi, George, Raymond and Ruthetta.
Mary is survived by her son, Joe Carter III of Curtis Bay, MD; and daughters: Janet Caldwell-Morrow (Rodney Morrow) of Sumter, SC and Lucretia Carter (Kayode Clark) of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren James Gregory Caldwell, James Aaron Caldwell, Danielle Clark and Bradley Clark. Siblings Kenneth Dorsey (Bertha) of Jersey City, NJ, Leon Dorsey of Charlotte, NC, John Dorsey of Baltimore, MD, Sisters-in-law Patricia Dorsey of Westminster, MD, Martha Lewis and Sandy Dorsey of Baltimore, MD, Dorothy Dorsey of Orangeburg, SC and Josephine Dorsey of Bronx, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends throughout the United States. In addition, special sisters and brothers; Dr. Faith Hibbert, Celia Ogbonna, and Elder Merlene Williams. Presiding Pastors of Pikesville International Seventh Day Adventist will be Pastor Wale' Adepoju and Pastor Orville Browne.
Lastly, Mary is survived by her spiritual family at Seventh Day Adventists and many residents/staff at the Atrium Village in Owings Mills, MD.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Pikesville International Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4619 Old Court Rd., Pikesville, MD 21208. In lieu of flowers, donations of love can be made to Pikesville International Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Light refreshments will be available following the Memorial Service. For those unable to travel, the Memorial will be available via Zoom link will be available 5/20/2025.
