Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Gavin?
A: Gavin was fondly called "Okosisi," a metaphor in Ibo language for his larger-than-life good nature. He always laughed with such heartiness that lit up a room. Gavin was a loyal friend to many. I will always remember him with deep respect. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

We recently learned of the sudden passing of our beloved friend Gavin Johnson.
Gavin passed away sometime recently, but it was not discovered until he did not show up for work, or for an annual gathering of three of his closest friends from college with whom he maintained a cherished 52 year relationship.
Gavin was affable his entire life. He shared his broad smile, resonate laugh, and sense of humor with thousands of friends and acquaintances. He will be especially remembered and missed by his Hannah More co-workers, alumni of City College HS, alumni of UMBC, members of the Morgan State University choral arts community, and more than 500 FB friends who looked forward to each of his scrumptious culinary recipes.
In recent years Gavin faced health challenges, but no one anticipated his sudden death.
Condolences are extended to the entire Johnson family.
In Loving Memory,
Linda Dorsey-Walker
