Immediately following services, the Interment will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. VERONICA J. DAY Veronica Jewell Day was born in Washington D.C. on August 4, 1936, to the late Robert David McCloud Sr. and Goldie Brown McCloud. She departed this life on January 13, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Veronica's mother passed away when she was 9 months old, so she was raised in Dothan, Alabama by her grandmother, Alice McCloud. After graduating from high school, she eventually moved to Baltimore, Md. in search of employment. While primarily a homemaker, Veronica also was a skilled presser, substitute schoolteacher and handled the business concerns of the W.C. Day Trucking Company which operated coast to coast for many years. After turning 50 years of age, she opened her home to support foster children some of whom remained very close to her for the rest of her life. Veronica had a great sense of humor and was quite competitive. She loved playing cards and board games with young and old alike. She was particularly fond of spending time with her husband during adventures on their motorcycle. Veronica was a Christian woman who at different seasons in her life belonged to either the African Methodist Episcopal or Baptist denominations. Veronica leaves many who will cherish her forever, mainly: her husband Warner Day; children Charles and Tynesha; daughter in law Cheryl; grandchildren Marcus, Danielle Day Lockwood (husband Bryan), and Derrick; and great grandson Ellis Lockwood. She leaves the following siblings: Robert, Jr. (wife Iola), Leon (in Glory), Sam (wife Betty), Pearline (husband Herb), Rosetta, Wallace (in Glory), Beatrice, Alfred (wife Brenda), Thomas (wife Georgia), David (in Glory) Barbara and Lynn. She also is survived by many foster children, including but not limited to Yolanda Moore, a stepdaughter Vernice Clayborne, and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
