I am so sorry to hear about Ish’s passing. I had not heard about it. I worked with Ish at Upper Chesapeake from 2017 to 2021 and watched him grow in his role. I returned back to LifeBridge in 2021 and was happy to hear he joined Northwest. I did not interact much with him but saw the great work he was involved with. I retired last year and just learned the news today. My heart goes out to his wife and children. Much too soon. He was well liked by all that knew him.

Ishmel will be missed and regarded as one of the most genuine nicest human beings I’ve known. He’s been a family friend since our elementary years. There not one moment that I can remember where there wasn’t anything that anyone has ever needed and him never saying the words “I got you”. To his wife, children and family you have my deepest sympathy, love and prayers.

This is the last time we hung out, celebrating your 46th, competing and enjoying life in a unique way that I would expect from you. I am still in shock knowing that you are gone, and way too soon. Rest In Paradise my brother. See you on the other side.

Dear Ishmel, I can't make sense of this loss. You are gone from us too soon. You were kindhearted, always willing to lend a helping hand, excellent in every task you touched, and concerned with raising up others. Your leadership has had a ripple effect on our organization that will be felt for years to come. We will carry on the work you started here and carry on your memory as a blessing. With love, Leah

Ishmel I never had the oppportunity to meet you in person however you and my good friend Mel were so happy together. I knew how good of a person you were just by her first description of you. She loved you beyond all the stars in the sky. I just continue to pray for your family and all healing that surpasses human understanding. Rest easy my friend and know that God is always in control. To God be all the glory for his life and his legacy.

I am still processing this. It gives depth to why we call it 'loss' because it feels like we have lost something. Someone who occupied a huge space that is now so empty. Ishmel embodied excellence and strategic thinking. He brought that to every meeting and every discussion and I miss that already. Ishmel THANK YOU for leading the Black Culture Employee Resource Group at LifeBridge. THANK YOU for challenging me to be intentional about the outcomes of the work I do. I am so sad about your departure and at the same time so grateful to have had the blessing of working with you.

We gather to honor the life of my cousin, Ishmel Ali Fulton — a name that always felt powerful to me, even from the very beginning. I am eight years older than him, and I remember when he was just a baby. Even then, something about him stood out to me. I knew he was going to do great things in this world. Growing up, Ishmel was always fun to be around. He was observant, intelligent, and carried a quiet wisdom even as a child. He paid attention to people. He listened. He understood things deeply. Those qualities followed him into manhood and became part of the reason so many people loved and respected him. One thing about Ishmel was that he was real. There was no fake love in him. If he loved you, he loved you genuinely and completely. He showed up for people. He checked on my mother and always made sure she felt special on her birthday. Those acts may seem small to some, but they speak volumes about a person’s heart and character. Ishmel was not only a businessman and community leader, but also someone who truly cared about the well-being of others. He understood the importance of mental health and made efforts to help people who were struggling. He traveled the world, met people from different walks of life, and left pieces of kindness and wisdom everywhere he went. Most importantly, he was a Son, husband, a father, family, and a beautiful human being. A truly good man. And in a world where goodness can sometimes feel rare, that matters deeply. His name, his impact, and the love he gave will never be forgotten. No one can ever take away the kind of man he was or the lives he touched. Though we grieve today, we also give thanks for having known him, loved him, and shared this life with him. Rest peacefully, Ishmel Ali Fulton. Your legacy lives on. Asé.
