To Warren's Family and Friends: We will all greatly miss Uncle Warren. He wasn't a blood relative, but it sure felt like he was. He has always been a part of our lives as my Uncle Ricky's best friend. He spent so many holidays and family get togethers with us and had a special place in all of our hearts. He was truly a special part of the McClendon family. I will never forget his quiet strength, and peaceful demeanor. He was like another Uncle to me. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Hello everyone. My name is Korin McClendon. After I heard the news, I had trouble sleeping at night. He and Aunt Irene was just at my house a week prior selling me Ravens tickets and catching up with the kids and life. So I wrote this tribute one night. Uncle Warren is gone, and I just can’t cope. In my mind, he was too steady, too dependable, too faithful to ever be gone. He was my father’s most loyal friend, and he’s been more involved in my life than any other uncle I’ve had. He was a simple man who showed his love not with many words, but through his actions. A man of consistency, loyalty, and selflessness—qualities that still shine through every memory I hold of him. He was so dependable that even now, I still struggle to accept that he’s not here. My dad wasn’t really a sports guy, but Uncle Warren knew I was. He stepped into that space. He’d bring me to hoop at the local gyms with his friends, or take me to play football with the young guys from his church. Every football season, without fail, I’d end up talking with him and Aunt Irene about what the Ravens needed to do to finally “get it right this year.” And if the season was going bad, we’d at least hope to beat the Redskins in the preseason Battle of the Beltway—and of course, not let the Steelers get away with sweeping us in the regular season. He’s been around for so many family milestones that it honestly took me years to realize he wasn’t a blood relative. That’s how deeply woven into our lives he was. And the memories come back in the smallest things. When I drive on backroads like Old Court or Marriottsville, I laugh, because he and my dad would always make me take those so-called “shortcuts.” He was always teaching me something—to the point I’ll admit, sometimes I got sick and tired of him. I knew I was in for it whenever he showed up on a Saturday in paint-stained pants with a toolbox in hand. That meant I was stuck helping. I can still hear him saying, “Pick up this wood… spread that grout in the tile… carefully lay those marble slats on the floor.” Back then, I thought I was just the grunt labor. But what I didn’t realize is that he was teaching me. He was showing me the value of hard work, and giving me the tools I’d need for my own family and my own “honey-do lists” one day. Even my last conversation with him makes me laugh. He looked at me and said, “You need to get your grass cut.” I rolled my eyes, said “Okay, I know, thanks Uncle Warren,” and slowly closed the door behind him. I didn’t realize that would be the last thing he ever said to me. I had planned to send him a picture of my freshly cut lawn as a joke. Now, it’s a bittersweet memory I’ll always carry. But Uncle Warren’s true character showed when my father, Ricky McClendon, suffered two major strokes within 48 hours. At the time, I was stationed in New Jersey, and my sister and I couldn’t have managed it all—the appointments, the therapies, the medications—without Uncle Warren. He became my dad’s right hand. He drove him, accompanied him, explained things to us, and made sure we were all okay. And here’s the thing: he was doing this while fighting his own battle with cancer. We begged him to take a break, but he refused. He looked at my dad and said, “We’re gonna get through this.” And that’s exactly what he did. He stood by my dad’s side until his last days, and in the process, he quietly passed the baton to my sister and me. So, thank you, Uncle Warren—for showing me that the true riches in life aren’t found in money, but in consistency, faithfulness, and relationships. Thank you for being not just my dad’s best friend, but my great uncle. You fought a good fight and ran your race faithfully. And now, I’ll take the baton you passed to me. A baton of wisdom and endurance. A baton of kindness and grace. A baton of strength and honor. And I promise to run with it, as I carry on in this marathon we call life. I’ll never forget you. I would like to pass along condolences to the Patterson family and all who loved their beloved Warren Patterson who transitioned on August 12, 2025. Warren was best friend of my youngest brother Ricky McClendon. They bonded early, maybe in kindergarten and remained fast friends forever, serving as "best man" in each other's wedding. Because of his friendship with my brother, I got to interact with Warren and his wife Irene, two great people, from time to time. Irene, I know you have a lot of fond memories of Warren and I pray that those memories, your faith and the support of family and friends will sustain you in the coming days and weeks. In 2020 during the Covid 19 close-down or limited access to schools, churches, work places, grocery stores, etc. -- the Patterson Siblings (Paulette, Dorothy, Shirley and Warren) huddled together every week on the telephone in Bible Study, Prayer, family updates, memories, jokes, and more. Knowing these close-downs would not be long, we first studied the shorter books of the Bible like Joel, Jonah, Habakkuk, Haggai and more. We put emphasis on the books' meaning for living today and wrote sermon points, etc. As time continued on and to do something a little different, we studied various topics using the Bible as our source. Businesses and churches started to open and we decided to keep studying God's Word together. We started to study longer books such as Proverbs, and Psalms. We decided to tackle subjects such as "Who is God to You," Fruit of the Spirit," women of the Bible and their significates for today, what the the Bible say about children, couples in the Bible and what lessons do we learn from them today, We studied the significates of numbers, took a Christmas Story test, worked onour own Acronyms, had Family History Day where we just talked about yesteryears. The answer to you question is -- Of course, we will continue our studies and Warren and Jackie will always be in our hearts. Love you Warren and Jackie From Sister Shirley

Dearest Patterson Family, Warren and I were neighbors for approximately 25 years at the Beckett Green Condominiums. I couldn't have asked for a more generous and kind neighbors/friend than Warren. People often describe an individual as someone being so kind that they would give you the shirt off of their back. I can honestly say... "Warren gave me the Coca-Cola shirt off of his back". We happened to have entered the condominium elevator simultaneously and I commented on how much I loved his shirt and could he get me like it. He said there weren't any more but, the next evening his beautiful wife knocked on my door with the shirt off of Warren's back. Warren will be missed and I will keep the wonderful memories of Warren forever. Irene, you had an amazing husband ❤️. #RIP
